Privacy Policy
Macoloc processes data needed to run a flat share, handle sign-in, deliver reminders, and display non-personalized banner ads.
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Data we process
- Google or Apple account: identifier, name, and email address; Google profile photo if available.
- Flat-share data: members, roles, settings, tasks, occurrences, points, warnings, reports, expenses, and shared balances.
- User content: comments, stories, and photos or videos you choose to submit, including task proof or reports.
- Notifications: technical tokens needed to send reminders and alerts.
- Service reliability: usage events, technical logs, and crash reports through Firebase.
- Technical data: device model, operating system, language, time zone, app version, and IP address. Analytics may infer a general location from this data, but not a precise GPS location.
- Advertising: banner ads are requested as non-personalized. Google Mobile Ads may process advertising identifiers or other technical data to deliver ads, limit frequency, and produce aggregated measurements.
- Community safety: blocking relationships and reports of stories or comments, including the selected reason and processing status.
How we use this data
- To create and secure the user session.
- To let people create or join a flat share and view the home’s current state.
- To manage tasks, award points, and keep a history of completions.
- To send reminders, warnings, and alerts related to normal service operation.
- To hide reported content or content from blocked accounts and allow it to be reviewed.
- To automatically check new comments, report descriptions, photos, and videos before publication to help limit harmful or abusive content.
- To display non-personalized banner ads.
- To measure service usage when you enable usage analytics.
Storage and service providers
Macoloc relies on Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, the Firestore database, photo storage, server functions, analytics and crash reporting, and on Google Mobile Ads for banner ads.
Data is hosted and processed through the Google infrastructure needed to operate the product. These providers are required to protect data under their contractual commitments and the rules that apply to the service.
For content safety, text is analyzed by Cloud Natural Language, photos by Cloud Vision, and video images by Video Intelligence. These checks process submitted content and cannot detect every instance of abuse. This check does not analyze video audio.
Retention and deletion
Account and flat-share data is kept while the service is used. Stories expire automatically after 24 hours. Logs, Analytics data, crash reports, and technical backups follow Firebase retention settings and may remain for a limited period after deletion.
Deleting an account removes the profile, user content, and associated data that is not legally required to be retained. For an Apple account, Macoloc also revokes the Sign in with Apple authorization.
Validation results needed for publication are kept with the related content and then deleted with that content or the account. Minimal technical references, containing no text, file, or account identifier, prevent an earlier upload from being reused until the home is deleted.
Your choices
- You can leave a flat share from Profile > Sensitive. Pending tasks are reassigned; if no full member remains, the home and its data are deleted.
- You can permanently delete your account from Profile > Sensitive > Delete my account. Google or Apple confirmation is required before the profile and associated data are removed.
- You may also contact support with a request about specific data.
- Notifications can be turned off at any time in your device’s system settings.
- Firebase Analytics usage statistics are off by default for a new installation. You can turn them on or off in Profile. This choice does not enable ad personalization.
- When Google requires it, a UMP form presents privacy choices related to advertising. The “Ad privacy options” shortcut appears in Profile when this entry point is required.
